Weight Loss and Your Healthy Lifestyle

At some point in our lifetime we all must think about our bodies and long term health. When we are young it is easy to blow it off thinking we are indestructible. It isn't always an easy thing. Once the real world starts and real responsibilities kick in, we seem to let our responsibilities to our health take a back seat. There is never enough time in the day.

All of a sudden you notice that your pants don't fit and you can't stand to look at the mirror anymore. You wonder what happened to your body and why haven't you noticed it before.

Maybe it is age or maybe it all the fat people around you. Something will kick in and make you start thinking about your own health. When you are young you can eat fast food and not exercise and never worry about your body, but when you start to get older, you begin to feel it more. Hopefully the motivation will kick in and you will want to take care of yourself.

When you eat crap food you feel like crap and your health suffers. Your sleeping patterns are shot, your skin looks like leather, and your hair is brittle. Change is the hardest thing to do in life, we are all creatures of habit. Its not impossible to do though. Make a commitment for a small 30 day change and stick to it. It will be easier to make it a habit if you tell yourself it is just a 30 day trial.

You will be more successful if you have a partner helping you. If both of you are doing it there will be someone to get on you when you are not feeling like sticking to it and you can support them as well.

Where do you start?

First, consult a physician about your goals and get a baseline health test or physical. They may do blood work tests. Don't be afraid to get checkout out like this as prevention is better than a cure. If you have a health condition you will most definitely want to talk about your diet and exercise plans with a physician.

After getting squared away at the doctors you will want to figure out want kind of diet you can stick to. I would suggest a simple mantra. Eat fresh foods, mostly plants. Fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients and can be very filling without being calorie dense. Eat meat sparingly, but don't cut it out of your diet. Don't be afraid of past or carbs either.. just don't overdo things.

You will want to start an exercise routine. Start simple. Walk around the neighborhood, alternate jogging blocks. When you are comfortable with this look into more strength building exercises with small weights or resistance stretching like yoga.

Pay attention to what works for your body and listen to what your body is trying to tell you. If you crave something sweet it is okay to give in a little. You might start craving protein after your workouts start.. that is your body telling you it needs more. It is not overly complicated, your body will let you know what is good for you and what is not.
